Emergency Vet ServicesAbout Our Emergency Doctors
Metropolitan Veterinary Emergency Service opened in 2009 to provide after-hour and weekend emergency care for your pet in times of crisis. With the oversight of a board-certified criticalist our emergency veterinarians and staff strive to stabilize, diagnose, and treat patients in an efficient and compassionate fashion.
If your pet suffers an emergency, first attempt to contact your primary care veterinarian. If they cannot assist you, or if they recommend transfer to a 24-hour care facility, call Metropolitan (502) 266-7007. We will provide you with emergency instructions and prepare for your arrival.
Once you arrive we will evaluate your pet's condition and outline a plan for diagnostic testing and treatment. The emergency veterinarian has the option of consulting Metropolitan's surgical and medical specialists, who are always on call. If it is necessary for your pet to be hospitalized, you will be updated regularly as to his or her status and test results.
Your primary care veterinarian will also receive frequent updates as to your pet's status via telephone and fax. The ultimate goal is to return your pet in a healthy condition to your home and the long-term care of your primary care veterinarian.
