Surgery About Our Surgeons
Metropolitan Veterinary Specialists has offered general practice veterinarians the option of referral for patients with challenging surgical needs since 1995. The surgical team includes four specialists, Dr. Randall Graehler, Dr. Aric Applewhite, Dr. Benjamin Neat, and Dr. Stephen Royals, to accommodate the growing demand for specialized pet surgery in and around Louisville.
Metropolitan's surgeons each underwent four years of additional training after four years of veterinary school to focus on surgery for dogs and cats. They have all passed the Board Examination of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, giving us the largest group of boarded small animal surgeons in Kentucky. In addition to their training and experience, they offer the latest in surgical instrumentation and imaging, including myelography and computed tomography (CT or CAT scan).
If your primary care veterinarian feels your pet could benefit from our services, he or she may refer you to Metropolitan for a consultation. Appointments are available Monday through Friday, at which time one of our surgeons will examine your
pet and explain in detail the treatment options, including the intended benefits and potential risks of any procedure to be performed.
